Playing in the South division of the AFC in the NFL, the Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the newer additions to the league. They joined only as recently as 1995, at the same time as another expansion team, the Carolina Panthers. If you are planning to attend a game at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium then you should be sure to wear the latest Jacksonville Jaguars jerseys so that your support can be clear for all to see.
The first season that the Jaguars played featured many great players in their team that would end up contributing to the achievements over the next few years. Individuals such as James Stewart, Tony Bocelli, Mark Brunell, and Jimmy Smith helped the club reach four consecutive play offs.
As the Jaguars were a completely new-team they had no history to draw on for the design of their kit and logo. Unfortunately, there was some disagreement initially with the Ford motor company, owners of Jaguar cars which also featured a leaping jaguar as their motif. A compromise was reached resulting in a new logo depicting a snarling jaguar head with a teal colored tongue. There is a rumour that the color teal was chosen as a slight to the Carolina Panthers who use a teal design heavily in their uniforms. As recently as 2009 the logo was revamped resulting in today’s design which is much simpler and straightforward.
At the same time as the last logo change there were also alterations made to the kits. The latest style features a teal or white jersey with a black trim and gold numbers. The pants are white and the helmets are black. On the sleeves of the jersey is a prowling jaguar. In fact, the Jacksonville Jaguars were the first NFL team to use a two-tone border on their lettering and numbers which is now common.
For their home games the team usually play in their white jerseys. This is common for clubs that are based in the hotter parts of the country. It also gives an advantage in so much that the visiting team is forced to play in darker colors that absorb more heat. When playing away matches the Jaguars mostly use their teal colored uniforms.
Of course, there have been occasional changes to this pattern. For example, in the 2008 and 2004 seasons the Jaguars utilized the teal jerseys for every home match. There was also a black jersey brought out in 2002 though this was rarely used.
Though their history is short the Jacksonville jaguars are already showing the potential to become one of the greatest NFL franchises. By choosing a supporter’s jersey you can be sure that you are contributing to your team in a number of ways. Not only will you be giving moral support you will also be helping the club’s balance books and in turn allowing them a greater purse to shop for talent.
It is surely only a matter of time before the team bring the Super Bowl back to Florida.
